I'm pushing hard against the school year, friends. Chapter 24 of As Only Mr. Darcy Can is now up in the Long Stories forum. What fun to see Wickham's trap so nicely baited.

Looking at the calendar--my last full week for writing work. The beginning of September signals school prep. The grand goal is to release Darcy By Any Other Name at the beginning of October.

Blog post, done. Darcy installment, posted. Home from church and heading to the coast for an overnight jaunt. A road trip has been prescribed for the sepsis recovery girl, me! Oboyoboyoboy!
-
Thanks for the "Happy Birthday." I used to sigh over the number, mourning the gradual loss of youthfulness, but not anymore. Grateful to be here and living the dream.

The trouble with a flash drive is that when your laptop slides off the coffee table, it can break. The next installment of my story could be a little late, because now my drive won't read.

Oh, no! That is one of my greatest fears. Of course, that means the new version will be even better. Can't wait!

That's what I tell myself, Bronwen. Yesterday I learned how to store backup copies on the cloud. And--you'll laugh--a big sigh of relief because my latest post (Chapter 34, part 1) disappeared along with the rest but was preserved here at Beyond Austen. :) I have lost work before, and the pain is real because isn't the lost work the best we've ever written? As you say, the revision does end up to be better. :)

Oh no! So frustrating! I'm so sorry! I believe in you!

Home from the hospital and on the mend. I learned the hard way what happens when a urinary tract infection crosses into the bloodstream and becomes septic. I hope to resume writing in June. For now, recovery is steady but way too slow. :)

I have had many UTI's in the past and I know that pain. To become septic is so scary. Thank goodness you are recovering. Please take it easy and take especially good care of yourself and follow your doctor's orders!!!!! Let us know how you are doing! Bless you! L.

Oh, Laura, I am so sorry! I hope you are feeling better now and things are healing well. Take care and thing only of your recovery!

Day by day I am gaining strength, though not fast enough for me. When I think back to what I've been through, I am sobered and willing to surrender to the need for rest. :)
-
I was hoping my head cold would go away as the day progressed, but no luck. Darcy By Any Other Name will be up tomorrow morning (Sunday) instead.

Congratulations to Robin Helm on the release of Forever Yours, the final volume of her trilogy.

I am alive! And this is my first day back on-line. I arrived in California Sunday night and woke up Monday with the stomach flu. So that's where I've been for days...on the sofa, in bed, or sitting outside with lovely ocean breeze, drinking in the sun. Oh well. I'll be home Friday night. I'm sorry to skip a week, not intentional. (Now I feel bad for poor Mr Bennet.)
-
I'm glad you're feeling better, Laura!
-
Well, I'm sorry you got sick, but I'm glad you are feeling better and in California no less! My home state. I miss it and can't wait to get to the beach this summer. Now, rest up and get us some chapter this weekend!
-
So sorry to hear you were ill again. Hoping it has gone for good this time.

If you are reading Darcy By Any Other Name, I need to let you know that tonight's post could be delayed until Sunday. I am riding the rails this weekend---a great place to work, but Internet access can be sketchy. Sorry!

Thank you, Gayle, for the shout out about The Jane Austen Dictionary of Word Usage. It's still free on Kindle this morning.

Persuasion's self-appointed Life Coach, Sir Walter Elliot, is spouting advice again. Check out his Looks & Rank blog (here).

First of 15 (?) weekly Darcy posts is up. I apologize for the timing. What is late for most of you is still early for me on the Pacific coast. :)

A question for readers of Darcy By Any Other Name in the comments today. What are your thoughts? http://www.beyondausten.com/topic/1542-darcy-by-any-other-name-comments/page-22#entry13071
