  1. I really don't want to seem greedy, but I am!!  I am checking practically every hour to see if we have an update on Elizabeth and Patrick.  You dropped the "mike" at such a critical point, and I am so very impatient.  You know some of us are not buying green bananas or long playing records anymore...

I also know that you have a life beyond this, BUT....

Thank you and have a wonderful safe Thanksgiving.

      Hiya Doris,

Thank you, sincerely, for your interest! I did kind of end the book in an exciting place.

      On purpose ...

      Without remorse ...

So let's see. Right now I've got a book launch going on (A Very Austen Christmas) and I'm teaching too. And hosting Thanksgiving. Let me get through the next four or five days. (My poor house is in desperate need of cleaning! :) I can begin putting up posts of The Lady Must Decide beginning on, let's say, Monday.

How's that?:th_whew:Originally I was not planning to post all three books. Now that I think about it, doing so will help me to move the republication process along. Plus, you all  can help me spot typos. Moreover, your excitement for the story is infectious. So we all win.

Beware, The Lady Must Decide won't be up for very long. In fact, I'm almost ready to take down So Lively a Chase. :smileyheart-1:

  2. Sorry, I know I'm behind in posting, but life has gone crazy. If things give way just a little bit, I'll try to post two chapters next week.

We understand crazy life! I have run to ground a few times myself. Thanks for posting for us. We will wait. :)

  3. My participation here will be spotty for a long while. My mother has cancer surgery on Oct 5. Radiation should be in Nov. I will be driving mountain roads in snow conditions. Something I have never done before. This is one of those years where I wish I had someone to do things for me.

I will be praying for your mom's surgery on Monday.

Thanks for the heads-up, Bronwen. Best of luck with your books.

  5. Summer is a bit crazy. I will get back to writing The Pact and A Lesson Hard Learned soon!

Summer IS crazy. Enjoy what's left, and we'll see catch you when we can.

  6. I know I dropped off the planet for a minute, but I have a new book coming out this weekend. Behind the Mask will release tomorrow on the usual sites. It has a mature theme. I am reworking The Ball At Meryton a bit so I can re-release shortly with a new cover. Just trying to make them all similar.

Exciting news! Congratulations on a job well done.

  7. The trouble with a flash drive is that when your laptop slides off the coffee table, it can break. The next installment of my story could be a little late, because now my drive won't read.

That's what I tell myself, Bronwen. Yesterday I learned how to store backup copies on the cloud. And--you'll laugh--a big sigh of relief because my latest post (Chapter 34, part 1) disappeared along with the rest but was preserved here at Beyond Austen. :) I have lost work before, and the pain is real because isn't the lost work the best we've ever written? As you say, the revision does end up to be better. :)

  8. Home from the hospital and on the mend. I learned the hard way what happens when a urinary tract infection crosses into the bloodstream and becomes septic. I hope to resume writing in June. For now, recovery is steady but way too slow. :)

Day by day I am gaining strength, though not fast enough for me. When I think back to what I've been through, I am sobered and willing to surrender to the need for rest. :)

  10. Three stories posting! One modern and one Regency Austen-inspired stories, and a Non-Austen-inspired Regency story!

  11. Oh, my, I did it. The Ball At Meryton has been submitted for publishing with Kindle Direct and is in review. I'm not sure how I feel right now. My first baby just left the nest.

  12. Love Suffers Long and is Kind is taking a one-week hiatus as Susan Kaye and I launch into the madness that is NaNoWriMo. Don't miss Susan's wonderful contemporary short, "Persuade Me Again," in the One Shots forum. http://www.beyondausten.com/topic/1732-persuade-me-again/

  14. I started writing after I read a few books that disappointed me and my husband told me I could have done a better job. I realized I had plenty of time while waiting around at my kids' practices (football, basketball, baseball, cheer, dance, acting, singing, etc.). Shortly after that, a friend turned me on to P&P (the Colin Firth version, of course) and I was hooked. I have no idea how I avoided reading Jane Austen prior to then, but I became an immediate fan in my early 40s. Now I hav...

Jane wrote without explicit scenes. If one needs sex to liven up a dull plot, I say it's time for the writer to go back to the drawing board and work on being clever. </snark>

Hi Barbara! Yes, we traveled through beautiful areas of Oregon and along unspoiled California coast. I resume teaching this week and soon will recall with wistfulness those scenic hours on the train.

I hear you. Some days are like that, and so are some weeks. P & P can cure nothing, but as an escape it helps.
